Knowledge of protein structure is mandatory to understand and exploit/modulate their functions. The increase of novel metodologies aimed at experimentally solving protein structures at an atomistic level (i.e. X-ray cristallography, cryo EM, NMR, etc.) and the improvement of computational biochemistry modelling techinques enabled to investigate with great accuracy protein structure, function, and the structure-function relationships also for proteins previously considered as difficult.
This advanced school aims at introducing young and senior scientists to the fundamentals of solving/predicting protein structure, including relevant bioinformatics techniques – and to selected applications in the fields of pathophysiology, biotechnology and pharmacology.
